Massage
Trigger Point Therapy
Is a technique that focuses on releasing specific points in the neck, back, shoulders and other tender areas to restore functionality and reduce pain. Trigger points are small pockets of tissue that become dense and irritated and eventually restrict movement. By pressing on these areas for specific amounts of time, they release natural endorphins and help to relieve pain and restore balance to the body. This technique can be incorporated into a full body session or may be used by itself depending on the client’s preference.
Swedish Massage
The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury.
The four common strokes of Swedish massage are:
- Effleurage: a smooth, gliding stroke used to relax soft tissue
- Petrissage: the squeezing, rolling, or kneading that follows effleurage
- Friction: deep, circular movements that cause layers of tissue to rub against each other, helping to increase blood flow and break down scar tissue
- Tapotement: a short, alternating tap done with cupped hands, fingers, or the edge of the hand
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage therapy is a style of massage therapy which focuses on getting results vs. just relaxing. Using this term indicates that the purpose of the massage is to achieve a structural change or therapeutic benefit in the body.
Muscle Release
This technique is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With the Muscle Release scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.
The main reason for the success of the Muscle Release Technique is that it is a way of treating the injury, and the resilient adhesion’s and scar tissue. When the Muscle Release Technique is used regularly, it not only prevents injuries, it helps to achieve a speedy recovery.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is perfect for clients who want to feel medium to firm pressure during the massage. Deep Tissue can be personalized for each client because Deep Tissue Massage includes a variety of massage techniques. Deep Tissue Massage is an umbrella term for Massage Therapy techniques applied to access the deeper tissues and address underlying issues in the body related to muscle tension. The Massage Therapist will apply Deep Tissue with fingers, palms, or elbows with a steady pressure that may start off softer and ease into the Deeper Tissue. Deep Tissue Massage should be done with open communication between the client and Massage Therapist.
Pre-Natal Massage
Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling).
In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension which aids in better sleep and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.
